Chris Sherburn & Denny Bartley

A Sherburn and Bartley night is like no other. Imagine Eddie Izzard with a concertina and Billy Bragg with a brogue, and that‘ll take you only the first furlong. Hull-born Chris Sherburn can make a fair claim to being the best Irish-style concertina player in this part of the galaxy, and has a line in rambling, fractured humour that would leave a stone in stitches. Denny Bartley hails from the West of Ireland and drives things along with a blazing, propulsive guitar style and a voice that can strip paint and break hearts in the course of a single chorus. Christmas party with Baccapella

It’s carol time, and the glorious massed voices of Keighley’s Baccapella will be revving up with an evening of Sheffield carols, Cornish carols, carols from wherever, along with other seasonal fare. Baccapella flamed into being in the late 1980s as Sharon And The Students, originally counting Peter Bellamy among their contingent, and have continued to suck in singers from Keighley’s Bacca Pipes folk club.
